BBC One are to screen the athletics Grand Prix from the NIA, Birmingham live on Saturday, 19th February. With the indoor athletics season now in full swing and the European Indoor Championships in Paris just weeks away, all focus will be on this event.
There will be a star studded field including Britain’s golden girl Jessica Ennis who will face world indoor champion Lolo Jones in the 60m hurdles, while Mark Lewis-Francis faces Jamaican Lerone Clarke – the man who beat him in the Commonwealth Games 100m final in Delhi. European double gold medallist Mo Farah will also be in action in the 5,000m.
Look out for British sprint star Mark Lewis-Francis as he takes on Jamaican Lerone Clarke in a rematch of 2010’s Commonwealth Games final, where Clarke narrowly took gold ahead of the Birmingham-born athlete. Britain’s golden girl Jessica Ennis will also be hoping for some home support as she lines up against world indoor champion Lolo Jones in the 60m hurdles.
Last year’s stellar line-up included 20 athletes who went on to pick up individual medals at the World Indoor Championships, including the fastest hurdler of all time, Dayron Robles who is making a return to the NIA once again.
The Aviva Grand Prix live from Birmingham is on BBC One on Saturday, 19th February between 1pm – 4.30pm, presented by Jonathan Edwards.
