Haye and Klitschko fight on Sky Box Office

May 9, 2011   ·   3 Comments

David Haye will face Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday 2nd July in a fight to be screened live on Sky Box Office.

As previously reported by touchline.tv, the clash between WBA World champion Haye and IBF, WBO, and IBO World champion Klitschko will take place at the Imtech Arena in Hamburg and is set to be one of the most eagerly anticipated fights for many years.

David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye became a two-weight world champion when he sensationally beat seven-foot tall Nikolai Valuev in 2009, making him the first British Heavyweight World Champion since Lennox Lewis retired in 2003. Haye successfully went on to defend his title against former world champion John Ruiz in April 2010 and British Olympic gold medallist Audley Harrison in November 2010. However, the opportunity to beat Wladimir Klitschko has always been his ultimate goal.

With his brother Vitali alongside him, Wladimir Klitschko has been the dominant force in the heavyweight division since 2005, successfully holding his position at the top over two generations of challengers with victories against the likes of Hasim Rahman, Eddie Chambers, and Lamon Brewster, and more recently Chris Byrd, Samuel Peter and Eddie Chambers. ‘Dr Steelhammer’ as Klitschko is known, will be hoping his defence and power can cope with Haye’s speed and movement, defeat to Haye would mark the beginning of the end of his illustrious reign at the top.

Speaking of the fight, Haye said : “This fight with Wladimir is the realisation of a dream I’ve had since I was 10 years old. The Klitschko brothers have spoiled the reputation of heavyweight boxing, for too long and it’s time for somebody to show people what it used to be about: excitement, knockouts, personality, and risk-taking. I believe I’m the guy to bring all that back on 2 July.

“There is no bigger boxing event this year. This is a fight I and all boxing fans have been hoping would happen for the best part of three years and as a result, the sense of anticipation is ridiculous. Once again viewers back in the UK will be treated to a slick production on Sky Box Office and I’m expecting tens of thousands of British fans to come out and support me in Hamburg. In years to come people will be asking each other, ‘Where were you when Haye knocked out Klitschko?”

Haye v Klitschko, featuring David Haye versus Wladimir Klitschko (WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles) plus undercard fights, from the Imtech Arena, Hamburg, will be screened live from 8pm on Saturday, 2nd July on Sky Sports Box Office HD (Channel 752) and Sky Sports Box Office (Channel 739).  Haye v Klitschko is expected to start at approximately 10pm.  It will also be screened live on Sky 3D Box Office.

Two-hour repeat showings will be screened at 9.00am, 1.00pm, and 7.00pm on Sunday, 3rd July. Repeats not available in 3D. The event is priced at £14.95 for UK customers, €21.95 for customers in the Republic of Ireland.

Seems Sky had a lot of problems with late bookings for the fight last night.

Due to those problems the fight replay is free to all Sky customers today at 9am, 1pm & 7pm on Sky Box Office
