Amir Khan’s WBA light-welterweight title defence will be screened live by satellite station Primetime.
The clash on Saturday 16h April against European Champion Paul McCloskey was originally due to be a pay-per-view offering on Sky Box Office. However due to the collapse of the undercard, Sky switched the bout to one of it’s regular channels but could not reach a broadcast agreement with Khan’s team.
Asif Vali, Business Manager of Amir Khan, said: “We are delighted to have agreed to a deal with Primetime. Amir is a pay-per-view fighter and has proved over the last 12 months the level at which he is now by beating some of the very best in his division. Primetime has shown some great fights in the past, including those of Bernard Hopkins, Vitali Klitschko, Evander Holyfield, Carl Froch and Jermain Taylor. We are looking forward to working with them and putting on a great show for all fight fans this weekend.”
Richard Schaefer, chief executive of Golden Boy Promotions, said: “There is no doubt that Amir is boxing’s next true superstar and, as a world champion, is a fighter that now commands pay-per-view billing. In McCloskey, he faces a fighter who has never tasted defeat and will give it his all in order to be crowned champion.
“We are pleased that an agreement has been reached with Primetime to provide UK fans with an outlet to watch the homecoming of one of the fight game’s brightest rising stars. His return will be a special occasion and he is sure to put on a great show for all those tuning in.”
Primetime is available on Sky Channel 480. The fight will cost viewers £14.95 and Sky viewers must register beforehand online at www.primetimelive.co.uk or call 0871 200 4444 and buy through box office. Non Sky subscribers can also see the fight on the Primetime website, which is also subject to the £14.95 fee.

Is the fight also available on Virgin Media ?
Hi Ash. Yes I understand it will be available to be booked as a ‘live event’ on a pay per view basis on Virgin Media.
I know the coverage starts at 8pm but what time is the khan-mccloskey fight expected to start?
J Raff, I don’t think we actually have a scheduled time. There are 3 fights on the undercard, it starts at 8pm, so I’m guessing after 10pm for Amir ?
Unless anyone knows any different ?
I might have paid for this fight if it was on Sky Box Office. But i’m not bothering with Primetime.
