Dereck Chisora’s title challenge against WBC World Heavyweight Champion Vitali Klitschko on Saturday 18 February will be televised live and exclusive on BoxNation.
Londoner Chisora faces the three-time world champion at the Olympiahalle Munich, Germany, making him the first British fighter to challenge for a world title in 2012.
BoxNation viewers saw Chisora’s European title challenge last month against Robert Helenius in Norway end in defeat in controversial circumstances following a split decision.
Chisora has a chance of pulling off an incredible upset over the long-standing world champion who’s ruled the division with his brother Wladimir, the WBA Super/WBO/IBF World Champion.
Frank Warren said, “I’m delighted that BoxNation have secured the rights to this fight for viewers to watch live in the UK,”
“BoxNation have televised some of the best domestic and international fights live this year and they are starting with a bang in 2012 with a big world heavyweight title involving a British fighter,”
“It’s a really tough fight for Chisora, but one that he can win if he gets himself in the same shape as he did against Helenius.”
Chisora said: “Wladimir Klitschko did not fight me but now I’m going to get the championship belt by beating his older brother. I’m going to show Vitali Klitschko that his time has expired and send him into retirement. When his younger brother then wants a fight against me I’ll be ready to bring all the championship belts to London.”
Vitali Klitschko said: “Chisora showed in his last fight, which he lost unfairly, that when his opponents are much bigger he can fight well on the inside. I will take warning from his excellent performance against Helenius and train intensely and meticulously as always. I won’t let all his talking affect me, however.”
Vitali Klitschko v Dereck Chisora is live on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 456, Virgin Ch. 546) from 7.30pm on Saturday 18 February 2012. Fight expected after 9pm.
