Sky Sports will broadcast live coverage of the 2011 Horse of the Year Show, the 63rd running of the event which provides the finale to the showing year and the climax to the domestic show jumping season.
Coverage of events at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham will be broadcast on Sky Sports HD4, starting at 8pm on Thursday 6 October and will include Dressage competitions, along with the high jumping Puissance contests from the show’s weekend finale.
For the first time, Sky will present coverage of the event in 3D, and have worked with organisers to create a specially designed jump to emphasise depth and movement in order to maximise the 3D experience for viewers.
John Cassy, Director of Sky 3D said : “Horse of the Year Show in 3D will give audiences a totally fresh perspective on the art of show jumping. It will give viewers a greater sense of the incredible skill and control the riders need to win this event than ever before.”
Chief Executive of British Showjumping, Iain Graham said, “Screening the event in 3D is a wonderful occasion for the sport and a fantastic opportunity for viewers to witness this prestigious event.”
The event finale will be aired live on the Sky 3D channel on Saturday October 8 at 20:30 and Sunday October 9 at 20:00. It will also be simulcast in 2D high definition on Sky Sports HD4. More information available at : www.sky.com/3D
