Virgin Media have announced that they will be broadcasting coverage of the French Open tennis tournament from Roland Garros, Paris, in 3D.
Virgin will show live and exclusive feeds from Eurosport at the centre court of Roland Garros, Paris. The coverage will be available free for M+, L and XL TV customers, providing you have a 3D compatible box and TV (either VHD, V+ HD or Virgin Media TiVo). The live action will also be backed up with a 3D on demand service.
Live 3D action will begin on Sunday 22nd May and will conclude with the final on Sunday 5th June. The tournament will showcase all of the sport’s biggest hitters such as defending champion Rafael Nadal, tennis legend Roger Federer, the currently seemingly unbeatable Novak Djokovic along with British favourite Andy Murray, and leading women such as Caroline Wozniacki and 2010 champ Francesca Schiavone.

The iconic clay courts of Roland Garros are the perfect stage to demonstrate the progress being made in 3D sports broadcasting. It will be the first time an entire Grand Slam event has been accessible in 3D to viewers at home from the opening day to the final and it reinforces Eurosport’s commitment to innovation and new technology.”
