Channel 4 is to screen a series of highlights programmes from this summer’s Eurobasket qualifying programme.
The Daily Mirror report that the GB men’s and women’s teams will appear in a series of matches around the country to be featured on Channel 4. The matches include the GB Women v Slovakia and GB Men v Ukraine ties from the NIA in Birmingham and GB Women v Germany and GB Men v Bosnia & Hergovina games from the Liverpool Echo Arena.
The one hour highlights programmes will be broadcast on four consecutive Sundays from 22 August at around 7am.
James Tombs from British Basketball said: “To get the support of a major broadcaster like Channel 4 is great for the sport. We have worked with Channel 4 before so it was the obvious platform and partner for what should be a feast of basketball.
Channel 4′s Sagina Shabaya said: “We showed the GB EuroBasket qualifying games in 2008 and received some fantastic ratings, so it seemed logical that we would get involved again this year.
“The standard of basketball will be of the highest order, so our viewers will get to see some of the best players GB has to offer, including an NBA star and players who play at the highest level in mainland Europe.”
