BSkyB have stood down Andy Gray and Richard Keys from their Sky Sports roles for tonight’s Premier League football match between Bolton Wanderers and Chelsea.
The pair were criticised for making off-air comments about female official Sian Massey ahead of Saturday’s early kick-off between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Liverpool. The comments were recorded and leaked to The Mail on Sunday.
Sky Sports managing director, Barney Francis, said he had spoken to both Keys and Gray personally. “It has been made clear to each of them that their comments were totally unacceptable. Those views are entirely inconsistent with our ethos as a business and employer, and will rightly offend many of our customers, our people and the wider public,” he said. “They are inexcusable from anyone at Sky, regardless of their role or seniority.”
The Daily Mail report that Keys and Gray are expected be replaced for tonight’s game by presenter Dave Jones and analyst Jamie Redknapp.
