The BBC are to trial a new addition to their online coverage of Formula 1 by introducing the ‘driver tracker’ graphic this weekend.
The animation is supplied by Formula One Management (FOM) from real timing data at the circuit and allows viewers to track the position of the cars around the circuit. It’s designed to compliment the tv coverage, providing an alternative way of following what’s going on in the race.
Andrew Benson BBC F1 blogger said : “The best use of it is probably in addition to the TV coverage as a way to better understand the race. It could be a huge help, for example, in the pit-stop period, when the TV coverage does not always show whether a driver emerges from his stop ahead or behind a rival. The driver tracker will show you all this live.”
He added : “We are making this available for this weekend’s British Grand Prix as a trial, with a view to introducing it for the rest of the season.”

Driver Tracker rocks
I have difficulty every F1 TV Event finding Live Driver Tracker that is the correct website page.. What am doing wrong.
Think the whole experience of Live Driver is great. iT ADDS A NEW DIMENSION when added to watching the TV and online Live Timings.
Like being on the Pit Wall – which incidentally I did when I was 13 years at Goodwood !
