BT Vision have announced that they will offer customers of it’s internet television service access to rival BSkyB’s sports channels in time for the 2010/11 Premier League season.
Customers will be able to sign up for the service from early July and begin viewing Sky Sports 1 & 2 from August 1st, ahead of the new football season on August 14th. BT said it would announce pricing for access to the service soon.
The move comes after Ofcom ruled in March that BSkyB must reduce the wholesale price at which it sells it’s premium sports channels to rivals such as BT Vision and Virgin Media.
Gavin Patterson, chief executive of BT Retail, said: “We are delighted to have reached this milestone, which means that we can be certain of offering Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 to our customers before the football season kicks off. We know our customers will be keen to sign up for the two channels.”
