The England cricket team are back in action on Sky Sports on home turf this summer as they face two of the world’s best cricketing nations. England home NatWest One Day Internationals and npower Tests are broadcast exclusively live on Sky Sports with highlights on Channel 5.
England will begin the international season by taking on Sri Lanka in three npower Tests starting on Thursday, 26th May. The SWALEC stadium in Cardiff, home of Glamorgan Cricket Club, is the host of the first test, which sees new Sri Lankan captain Tillakaratne Dilshan lead his charges out against Andrew Strauss’s Ashes winning heroes.
The series includes the first Test to be staged at the Rose Bowl followed by a NatWest International T20 and five NatWest Series one-day internationals.
Following the Sri Lanka series, next on the international cricket calendar is the visit of India, the number one ranked Test side in the world, which should provide the toughest of opposition for an England side buoyant from their Ashes victory in Australia. India will take on their hosts in a four-match npower Test series ahead of a NatWest International T20 and a five-match NatWest Series between the two countries later in the summer.
Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain and David Lloyd will be amongst those in the commentary box for Sky Sports to talk through the non-stop action as the summer unfolds, giving their expert opinions on what will be a wealth of top-class cricket.
ECB chief executive David Collier said: “With India currently the number one ranked side in the ICC Test rankings and Sri Lanka in third place, England supporters can expect to see two exciting npower Test series against high quality opposition.
“Both teams will also provide a tough challenge for England in the shorter forms of the game in what promises to be a highly competitive and entertaining summer of international cricket all round.”
