British Eurosport are to broadcast live coverage of the Cycling World Road Championship from Australia over the weekend of 2-3 October. BBC Sport will also screen highlights of the mens and womens elite races.
The women’s road race takes place on Saturday, October 2 and features a gruelling course 127.2km long which will provide a real test of the cyclists’ abilities as they power round the streets of Geelong. Great Britain’s team is spearheaded by Olympic champion Nicole Cooke and Emma Pooley. They are ably assisted by three more riders out of a squad of Lizzie Armitstead, Katie Colclough, Sharon Laws, Lucy Martin and Catherine Williamson.
The men’s road race takes place on Sunday, October 3 over a 262.7km course from Melbourne to Geelong. Great Britain’s team is only three strong, with David Millar and Jeremy Hunt in support of Mark Cavendish in his bid for glory.
Live coverage of the womens race commences at 07:35 on Saturday, October 2 and from 13:15 on Sunday, October 3 on Eurosport / HD.
BBC Sport will feature same day highlights from 14:15 on BBC One on the Saturday and from 13:00 on the Sunday on BBC Two. Jill Douglas presents the highlights shows with commentary from Hugh Porter and Chris Boardman.
