ITV4 and Eurosport are to both broadcast daily live coverage from the 2011 Amgen Tour of California between 15th – 22nd May. Now in its sixth year, the tour starts at the California-Nevada state line on Lake Tahoe’s south shore on Sunday 15th May.
Eurosport have covered the race live since 2009, and are joined this year by ITV4, who are covering the event for the first time. Ned Boulting, who front’s ITV4′s Tour of Britain daily highlights programme, will anchor the coverage from a London studio, with Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen commentating on the action.
Brits have traditionally fared well in the five previous editions of the race, and a healthy number will be heading to the sunshine state once again. Last year’s winner Michael Rogers will have Sky team-mates Alex Dowsett, Chris Froome, Jeremy Hunt, Ian Stannard and Ben Swift for company. Also on the startline will be Charlie Wegelius (UnitedHealthCare) and British-born Dan Martin (Garmin-Cervélo).
ITV4 have steadily built up a regular portfolio of cycling coverage, broadcasting highlights and occasional live coverage of the Tour de France in recent years, as well as the Halfords Tour Series and Tour of Britain.
