Revolution, the international track cycling series, has agreed a new broadcast deal with ITV for the upcoming season starting on October 29 at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester.
The deal will see the Revolution Series televised in four one hour highlights programmes on ITV4 which will be scheduled the Monday evening following each event.
The series will provide one the opportunity to see Team GB race in the UK as they prepare for the 2012 Olympics and star names including Chris Hoy, Mark Cavendish, Geraint Thomas and Ed Clancy are confirmed to race. The events will also include a team competition with professional teams such as Team Sky, Rapha Condor Sharp and UK Youth lined up to compete for the Championship title.
James Pope, Managing Director of organisers Face Partnership said: “The broadcast partnership with ITV is an exciting development for Revolution and will enable us to reach a national audience. Revolution was designed to deliver world class racing as well as entertainment so we are looking forward to translating this format to TV.”
Niall Sloane, Controller of Sport at ITV, commented: “Revolution provides an excellent opportunity for us to extend our cycling coverage beyond the road season. We have seen growing audience figures for our coverage of events like the Tour de France and Tour of Britain so the Revolution coverage will enable us to engage this audience into the track cycling season.” ITV4′s coverage will be presented by regular cycling presenter, Ned Boulting.
The season begins on Saturday 29th October and continues on 19th November, 7th January and 28th January. Cyclevox – the cycling media and production company, will produce the programmes. Full details can be found on the Official Revolution Series website at www.cyclingrevolution.com

Its about time ITVSport had some good news for a change. With the winning of the French Open Tennis TV rights for the uk. I think its about time ITV4 should change its name. I think all of ITVSports contracts should be on ITV4. ITV1 should be for Entertainment, News, Childrens programmes, Films, regional programmes and so on.
I’ve just been on Tennis Forum web site all I see is people rubbishing ITV Sport.
I like ITV. It’s a good job that ITV Sport
won the TV wrights for the French Open Tennis. I hope they have somebody new presenting it like Martina Hingis or Traci Austin.
I would like to see on ITVSport more motorsport. They recently aired on ITV4 1000 Bikes Festival with Steve Parish, Wayne Rainey, Jacamo Agaustini and Kenny Roberts it was brilliant. I would love the FIM SuperBike World Championship all 14 rounds live and World Series By Reault all 9 rounds live . Bring back James Allen and Mark Blundell to commentate.
