BBC announce 2010/11 football plans

The BBC have announced the line-up for their coverage of the forthcoming football season.  As previously reported by touchline.tv, the BBC’s first live match of the new season sees newly promoted Leeds United face rivals Derby County on Saturday, August 7.  Presenter Jake Humphrey will be  joined in the studio by Lee Dixon and Danny Mills.

In addition to this match, the following live matches have been confirmed by the BBC :

Saturday 11 September: Burnley v Preston North End
Saturday 23 October: Doncaster Rovers v Sheffield United
Sunday 7 November: Cardiff City v Swansea City
Sunday 28 November: Norwich City v Ipswich Town

The Football League Show will return on the first Saturday of the new season, presented by Manish Bhasin with Steve Claridge along with some guest studio appearances from Leroy Rosenior and Mark Bright.

Football Focus with Dan Walker will be back, and out and about with 12 shows set to be presented live from Premier League or Football League grounds, starting with Elland Road on Saturday, August 7.

Final Score, soon to be the UK’s only free-to-air results show following the closure of Sky Sports News on Freeview will continue to bring viewers all the goals as they happen every Saturday afternoon, available on the Red Button at 14:30 and later on BBC One. Gabby Logan returns as host with regular pundits Garth Crooks, Mark Bright, Martin Keown and Matt Holland.

The Premier League returns on Saturday, August 14 and with it so does a new season of Match of the Day on BBC One.  Gary Lineker returns to showcase the pick of the days action alongside regular studio pundits Alan Hansen, Mark Lawrenson, Alan Shearer and Lee Dixon.

Following the defection of Adrian Chiles to ITV, Colin Murray takes the helm on Match of the Day 2, every Sunday on BBC Two throughout the season.  Colin will be joined by regular analyst Lee Dixon and a range of footballing personalities to provide the last word on the weekend’s action.
