Premier Sports have announced that they will broadcast another season of live matches from the Blue Square Premier. The broadcaster will cover a minimum of 30 matches live during the 2011/12 season.
There had been fears surrounding the financial security of the deal to broadcast the Blue Square Premier League, and Premier Sports confirmed on their Facebook page that they were short on subscriptions to cover all their costs last year.
However, despite that setback, the broadcaster said on Facebook : “If people actually get fully behind it, it would not take much to begin sharing out money beyond the rights fee. An extra 1000 subs would mean 40K for the league so very quickly the money begins to come in.”
In an attempt to boost subscriptions, the broadcaster also stated that they will also have to change the focus of their coverage onto the bigger clubs in the league this season.
Premier Sports said : “Our data tells us very few, literary a handful will pay to watch the smaller teams. this does not mean they will all be top 4 games. I think the fact Crawley are gone is helpful in that we won’t feel the need to cover the top team week in week out.”
