BBC One (Scotland only) are to screen the CIS Cup Final live on Sunday, 20th March from 2.30pm as Celtic and Rangers meet for the sixth occasion this season.
It’s sure to be an emotion-filled occasion for Walter Smith who is in his last season with the Ibrox club and is it’s most successful manager since the Bill Struth era. Rangers have an illustrious League Cup history having won the trophy a record twenty six times – Smith leading his teams to nine of those over two spells at the helm. Ally McCoist will take over the reins next season. Meanwhile, Neil Lennon will be hoping this is his first trophy win as Celtic manager.
Neil Lennon’s Celtic has assembled an impressive squad which has produced some impressive form recently. In their five meetings in all competitions already this season, Celtic have the upper hand. They have two SPL wins to Rangers’ one and were also the victors in a controversial Scottish Cup replay.
The BBC’s coverage will be presented by Rob Maclean with Pat Nevin, Scotland boss Craig Levein and Everton manager Davie Moyes in the studio. Liam McLeod and Billy Dodds are in the commentary box.
