Sky and ESPN have confirmed the fixtures to receive live TV coverage in the first 4 months of the new Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League season.
Celtic’s trip to newly promoted Inverness Caledonian Thistle kicks-off the Sky coverage at 12.15pm, Saturday August 14 on Sky Sports HD4, and will be the first of 30 live Scottish Premier League games to be shown in HD on Sky Sports this season.
Sky Sports has announced 10 live matches featuring 10 different clubs over the first four months of the season, including the first Old Firm Derby of the season, from Celtic Park on Sunday, October 24 at 12noon. Other highlights include the first Edinburgh derby of the season from Easter Road on Saturday, November 7 as Hibernian face Hearts at 2.15pm.
Barney Francis, Sky Sports Managing Director said: “We begin the season with an intriguing challenge for both Terry Butcher’s promoted side and Celtic. Our opening fixtures also include the first of four Old Firm derbies available in high definition this season and also the first Edinburgh derby of the season.”
ESPN have announced 13 fixtures as part of their coverage of the first 4 months of the new SPL season, opening with the clash between Motherwell and Hibernian on Sunday, August 15 at noon on ESPN and ESPN HD. Also in August, ESPN will broadcast Hamilton Academical versus Hearts on Saturday, August 21 and last season’s SPL runners up Celtic versus Motherwell on Sunday, August 29.
The channel will air Hamilton against champions Glasgow Rangers on September 11 and Inverness Caledonian Thistle against Hearts on September 18. ESPN will also carry a further three live SPL games in October and five in November.
