This week sees the return of European football as the both the UEFA Champions League and Europa League progress to the knockout stages. There are four live TV matches on during the week with the action kicking off on Tuesday, 15th February as Manchester City travel to Greece to take on Aris Saloni
Matt Smith presents all the action as Mancini’s men face a tough game against the Greek side who twice defeated Atletico Madrid in the group stages. City will want their all-star side to deliver a healthy lead ahead of the second leg. The game kicks off at 5pm, and can be seen live on ITV4.
Later on Tuesday night, Sky Sports 2 will feature coverage of Tottenham Hotspurs visit to the San Sior in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie against AC Milan. Gareth Bale scored a hat-trick when Tottenham faced Inter here in the group stage and Spurs will be hoping for a repeat of that performance.
On Wednesday evening, ITV1 will broadcast live coverage of the first leg of the first knockout round game in the Champions League between Arsenal and Barcelona at the Emirates Stadium. Barcelona boast the core of Spain’s World Cup-winning team and also have the newly crowned World Player of the Year in Argentinian maestro Lionel Messi. Cesc Fabregas, Robin Van Persie and co will have their work cut out if Arsenal are to avenge last year’s Champions League quarter-final defeat by Barcelona when Messi scored four goals in a memorable second leg in Spain. Commentary comes from Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend, with Patrick Vieira in the studio. The game kicks off at 7.45pm.
Finally, on Thursday 17th February, ESPN will screen coverage of Rangers Europa League tie against Sporting Lisbon live from Ibrox. Rangers, who failed to advance in the Champions League, enter the competition to take on Portuguese giants Sporting. Kick off for this match is at 8.05pm.
