Adrian Chiles introduces live ITV coverage of the FA Cup final on Saturday 14th May between the country’s wealthiest club, Manchester City and the more modest Premier League outfit Stoke City, who have never previously reached the final.
Manchester City are firm favourites, but their long-suffering supporters will take nothing for granted as the club goes in search of its first major trophy since 1976. Manager Roberto Mancini has been given the task of making City a major force in the game and an FA Cup triumph would be the perfect launch pad.
Stoke City, under the guidance of boss Tony Pulis, are playing in the final for the first time in the club’s history. The long throws of midfielder Rory Delap are sure to be a feature of the day as Stoke look to repeat the form that saw them thrash Bolton 5-0 in the semi-final.
Manchester City’s quest to win their first silverware in 35 years now focuses on the result at Wembley. Their fans will expect their multi-million-pound team to win through, but can Stoke cause another big upset?
ITV Sport’s coverage of the FA Cup Final live from Wembley is on ITV1 / HD from 1pm on Saturday14th May, kick-off at 3pm. Commentary comes from Clive Tyldesley and Jim Beglin.
