The Football Association has announced the three FA Cup with Budweiser First Round live ties that will feature on ITV and ESPN later this month.
The televised ties will kick off at 12.30pm on Saturday 12 November when Justin Edinburgh’s Newport County host League Two Shrewsbury Town at the Newport Stadium, live on ESPN.
League One high flyers, Charlton Athletic, will see their visit to FC Halifax Town’s The Shay on ITV1 the following day, also at 12.30pm.
ESPN will complete the live TV double header on Sunday 13 November with Sheffield Wednesday heading to Morecambe at 3.15pm.
All six clubs will receive The FA live broadcast fee of £67,500 while the winners net £18,500 from The FA Cup prize fund.
In addition, Wrexham’s FA Cup first-round match against Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Cambridge United has been brought forward to Friday, November 11 (7.45pm) and will be broadcast live on S4C in Wales.
Jeroen Oerlemans, Vice President & Channel Manager TV, ESPN Europe, Middle East & Africa, said: “The first round of the FA Cup is always a great moment in the football season – pitting non-league sides against teams from League’s One and Two – and ESPN is looking forward to bringing fans all the action as well as the upsets and surprise results that the FA Cup is famous for. Last season, we had a fantastic first year covering the FA Cup, with great matches, exciting stories and the chance to connect with fans around the country.”
