Sky Sports will broadcast live coverage of the E.on sponsored FA Women’s Cup Final from the Ricoh Arena on Saturday 21st May as Arsenal take on Bristol Academy in the showpiece event.
Arsenal are seeking their eleventh Women’s Cup crown while, in contrast, Bristol will be looking to lift The Cup for the first-ever time. The two sides have met in this competition three times before, each time at the Semi-Final stage – and each time Arsenal ran out victorious. This is Bristol’s first appearance at this stage of The FA Women’s Cup.
“It’s great to be in this Final,” said Bristol forward Heatherson. “We lost our first FA WSL game 4-0 to Birmingham, but that wasn’t really us out there. Getting to this Final has showed the sort of side we have grown into and what a good side we can be on our day.
“We are playing really well, we are scoring goals and we are creating a lot of chances. Hopefully we can keep that going against Arsenal.” The north Londoners were beaten by Everton in last season’s Final and Houghton believes her new team-mates are hungrier than ever in their pursuit to reclaim The Cup.
“There was a lot of talk of revenge when we played Everton in the Fifth Round and that Final defeat really spurred all the girls on,” she said. “I know they do not want to go through that losing feeling again. We just need to make sure we are prepared on the day. We are taking nothing for granted.”
The FA Women’s Cup is live on Sky Sports 1 / HD1 on Saturday 21st May from 1.30pm (kick-off at 2pm).
