England will be hoping to put a dismal 2010 behind them and look forward to Euro 2012 qualification in 2011. However, before they face Wales at the Millennium Stadium on March 26th, there is the small matter of the first England friendly of the year against Denmark on Wednesday, 9th February.
England will travel to the Parken Stadium, Copenhagen to face Morten Olsen’s men for their first encounter against the Danes since the 4-1 loss five years ago. Overall England have the better record of the two sides, with ten wins from 17 meetings, including a World Cup second round match in Japan eight years ago.
The date had originally been pencilled in for England to play Argentina in Copenhagen, however the Danish Federation raised objections and the South American side were unable to fulfil a re-arranged fixture 24 hours earlier, leading to a change needing to be made. Denmark’s planned friendly fell through, and so the switch to face England was the obvious move.
Kick-off is at 7.15pm and the match will be broadcast live on ITV1 on Wednesday, 9th February. Adrian Chiles will be joined by Gareth Southgate and Sam Allardyce with commentary from Peter Drury and Andy Townsend.
