Huddersfield made it through to the penalties with a 4-2 penalty win over Bournemouth in a tie which had everything. We had missed penalties, sendings off and plenty of goals, finishing 4-4 on aggregate.
Peterborough secured their place after beating the Milton Keynes Dons 4-3 on aggregate. The Posh were trailing 3-2 after the first leg but were back on level terms after just 11 minutes at London Road, when Grant McCann scored. Craig Mackail-Smith who has been in excellent form for Darren Ferguson’s side this season, scored what turned out to be the winner on 54 minutes with his 34th goal of the season.
Reading will face Swansea City in the npower Championship Play-Off Final on Monday May 30th at Wembley Stadium. Sky Sports 1 / HD1 will broadcast the match live, coverage starts at 2pm with kick-off at 3pm.
Reading made it through to the Play-Off final with a 3-0 aggregate win over Cardiff City. The first leg ended goalless before the Royals won at the Cardiff City Stadium, thanks to two goals from Shane Long and another from former Bluebird Jobi McAnuff.
Swansea secured their place by also scoring three goals, beating Nottingham Forest at the Liberty Stadium. Again the first leg ended goalless so it was all to play for in the second match. Two goals in five minutes from Leon Britton and Stephen Dobbie, set the home side on their way. A goal with 10 minutes to go from Forest striker Robert Earnshaw set up a nervy finale for the home side but Darren Pratley’s goal from inside his own half, in injury time, wrapped up the win.
BBC One will broadcast two editions of the Football League Show on Sunday 29th May at 11:45pm and Monday 30th May at 10:45pm featuring highlights of all three matches.
