Eurosport and BBC Sport will present live coverage of the 2011 French Open, the most prestigious tournament on clay from Roland Garros between May 22 to June 5.
Rafael Nadal posted one of the best defensive performances of last year’s tournament to claim his fifth French Open title with a 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Robin Soderling. The Spaniard reclaimed his Roland Garros crown making him just the second man in history (behind Bjorn Borg) to win five or more French Open titles. He will be amongst the favourites of this year’s tournament once again with Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray among his main competitors.
In the women’s tournament, Francesca Schiavone re-wrote the history books becoming the first Italian woman to win a Grand Slam title with a 6-4, 7-6(2) victory over Samantha Stosur in a hard-fought French Open final. Will she be able to do it again this year with Samantha Stosur, Caroline Wozniacki and Venus Williams in her way?
Eurosport will provide extensive non-stop daily live coverage from the very first match until nightfall. Eurosport has access to the 7 feeds from the 7 main courts guaranteeing to take the viewers to wherever the action is. Over the 15 days of the tournament, Eurosport will broadcast more than 90 hours LIVE. In addition, Eurosport has four camera crews to gather reports and interviews.
Eurosport’s daily show “Game, Set & Mats” will also give tennis fans great insight from former world number 1 Mats Wilander & Annabel Croft as well as exclusive interviews.
BBC Sport will broadcast daily live coverage of the tournament on the Red Button from 10:00 – 19:00 and for the first time a nightly highlights programme on BBC Two. The Men’s Final and Women’s Final will also be broadcast live on BBC Two.

Why is the camara work so bad this year at French Open, I can’t watch it anymore, camara shot changes every second to the ground, back of shoes etc, cannot follow the tennis and watch them serve without the lens wondering off.
So annoying. HIlary
Most unhappy about the coverage for the French Open. How are those who have to record some of the matches ever to work out which channel to set to record? You jump about between channels with very little rhyme or reason and no froewarning. Also Andy Murray should ALWAYS be on the HD channel for British viewers.
Glad to see you are now sticking with one channel coverage, but please tell Mats to stop talking through the play in the French Open. It is very off-putting and unnecessary. There is plenty of time between points to talk. We want to concentrate on the tennis not on his (often wandering) comments. He seems to love the sound of his own voice. Infortunately, we don’t.
