ESPN has extended it’s agreement to broadcast live and exclusive coverage of Italy’s Serie A and America’s Major League Soccer in the UK.
The deals enhances ESPN’s schedule of top-flight UK and European football, with at least two matches each week from Italy’s elite division, alongside Coppa Italia games and at least two matches each week from the MLS regular season and playoff games.
Following ESPN’s successful first season of Serie A coverage, ESPN will broadcast ESPN Kicks – Serie A, showing the goals from the weekend, and, a weekly preview show, Total Italian Football. The Coppa Italia also returns to ESPN for a second season, with live matches set to be broadcast throughout the competition.
ESPN’s coverage of Major League Soccer includes broadcast of top weekly MLS regular season games as well as access to all of the league’s playoff matches. MLS is bouyant following the US national teams performance at the World Cup and its profile has been further enhanced after Arsenal and Barcelona striker, Thierry Henry joined the New York Red Bulls.
