Sky Sports have selected two Carling Cup Round 1 matches to be televised live during the first week of the new season.
Stevenage will make their debut in the competition in front of the cameras when they host Portsmouth at Broadhall Way on Monday August 9th, kick off 7.45pm. Both clubs suffered differing fortunes last season, Stevenage gained promotion to League Two by winning the Blue Square Premier whereas financially-troubled Pompey suffered relegation from the Premier League.
Just 24 hours later the Sky cameras will be at the new b2net Stadium for Chesterfield’s Round 1 match with Middlesbrough. The match will be the Spireites first cup game at their new home.
