Transfer Deadline Day on Tuesday 31 January promises to be an unmissable event for many football fans as clubs scramble to negotiate last minute deals to bring in the players they need for the rest of the season.
Sky Sports News HD will broadcast comprehensive coverage of Transfer Deadline Day from 6am to midnight and as ever it promises to be an excitable affair with ‘Mr Deadline Day’ himself, Jim White (pictured left) bringing events to an exciting climax, usually accompanied by Big Ben’s bongs at 11pm.
Alongside the Deadline Day guru on Sky Sports News are fellow presenters Natalie Sawyer, David Jones, Rachel Wyse and chief news reporters including Bryan Swanson. Sky Sports army of reporters will be on location outside some of the key locations as they look to get the biggest scoops on one of the biggest days of the football calendar.
Speaking of what to expect from Transfer Deadline Day, Jim White told Sky Sports News : “The unpredictability is part of it and it’s my job to make sure people don’t leave their sofa or the pub or wherever they’re watching it! But I think there will be plenty of activity. I’m going on in the build-up to the 11pm deadline and I’ll be on air with Natalie Sawyer, who is a great foil for me because she’s so level-headed. I’ll say something over the top and then she’ll bring it all back to earth again. I think we’re a really good team.”
Bookmaker Paddy Power are offering a special market of odds on ‘Jim White’s first post 9pm cliché’. Obvious frontrunners include “We can now reveal” and “The clock is ticking”; both priced at 5/1 and “Sky sources have informed me” at a seemingly generous 20/1.
