ESPN and ESPN HD are to broadcast nightly highlights from the 150th Open Championship at St Andrews between 15 – 18 July.
During the tournament, ESPN and ESPNHD will broadcast The Open Highlights, nightly at 11pm. ESPN will also broadcast a one hour preview show, SportsCenter at The Open Championship Preview, on Wednesday 14 July at 11pm.
Jeroen Oerlemans, Vice-President TV Channels, ESPN EMEA, said: “We are delighted to bring British golf fans a nightly high-definition round-up of the best of The Open. ESPN is no stranger to golf having televised golf for decades around the world, including all four majors. We will look to continue to build our golf programming in the UK as part of our commitment to building a channel with a wide variety of sport.”
Peter Alliss, whose career has spanned 45 years, will feature on ESPN’s The Open Highlights. Also featuring on, The Open Highlights will be Colin Montgomerie, who will play in the Open Championship and is the captain of the European Ryder Cup team, along with golf legends Paul Azinger, Tom Watson and Curtis Strange. All are part of ESPN’s international coverage of The Open Championship.
