With just under a year before the London Olympics, Clare Balding presents a special BBC show profiling some of the stars to look out for in 2012 along with a preview of some Olympic Events.
‘Olympic Countdown’ on Sunday 21 August looks at how London is preparing for the Games and asks if it’s likely that Britain will hit its target of fourth place on the medal table.
The form of some of Britain’s top medal hopefuls goes under the microscope at test events at next year’s venues and World Championships abroad. This time next year their Olympic dreams and destinies will have been decided but, for now, it is all about rehearsing for that big day.
The programme includes coverage of various Olympic test events including beach volleyball which takes place at Horse Guards Parade, the road cycling test event on the Olympic course, the BMX supercross World Cup event in the Olympic Park, canoeing from Szeged, Hungary, and the World Championship triathlon from Lausanne, Switzerland.
‘Olympic Countdown’ is on Sunday 21 August on BBC Two 1pm – 5.30pm.
The timetable for broadcast is as follows:
1.05pm Beach volleyball
1.55pm Road race cycling
2.15pm BMX highlights

4.05pm World triathlon

Gutted that the BBC are only giving us 20 minutes of highlights of todays London 2012 test race.
Should have been live at least on the Red Button.
