ESPN have announced their plans to bring NFL’s Monday Night Football to gridiron fans in the UK, beginning with a live double header on Monday, September 13 and expanded two-hour pre-game coverage, starting at 22:00.
Each week, Monday Night Football, the longest-running and most successful primetime sports show in US television history, will televise the game of the week beginning with the New York Jets v Baltimore Ravens (12.00am kick off) followed by Kansas City Chiefs v San Diego Chargers (03:00am kick off).
The 2010 regular season continues on ESPN & ESPN HD on Monday 20th September with current Super Bowl champions, New Orleans Saints, as they travel to California to face the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers will be in London on Sunday 31st October taking on the Denver Broncos at Wembley Stadium for the annual NFL International Series game.
Each Monday, ESPN will kick off Monday Night Football with the 90-minute pre-game programme, Monday Night Countdown, offering the latest news and reviews from the weekend’s action as well as an in-depth build up to the live Monday night game. Monday Night Countdown is anchored by studio host Chris Berman, with analysts and former players Cris Carter, Mike Ditka, Tom Jackson, and Keyshawn Johnson. They will be supported with comment from the game venue itself from host Stuart Scott with analysts Matt Millen and Steve Young. Match telecast Monday Night Football will be led by chief commentator Mike Tirico and supported by co-commentators Ron Jaworski and Jon Gruden.
