The BDO Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships will start on New Year’s Day 2011, the first major sporting event of the New Year on terrestrial television.
The tournament will be held between Saturday, January 1 through to Sunday, January 10 2011, at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey. Colin Murray and Bobby George will introduce live coverage on BBC Sport as the tournament celebrates 34 years with the broadcaster.
The extensive TV coverage by BBC Sport is complemented by red-button coverage of every dart thrown for digital TV viewers, global distribution by BBC Worldwide, European coverage via Eurosport, and Asian coverage by Eurosport Asia. Collectively this produces the biggest global TV audiences for darts
Olly Croft OBE, Managing Director of BDO Enterprises Ltd said, “For the first time since 2005, we are starting the Lakeside World Professional Championships on January 1st and, because there will be a Bank Holiday on Monday, January 3rd there is a bonus for darts fans with an extra afternoon session on that day.”
“There will be a total of twelve sessions of darts, and together with our wonderful sponsor Bob Potter and BBC Sport, we will make sure that we present the greatest darts Championship on the planet!”
Croft added : “The World Pro continues to maintain the history of darts at the highest possible participation levels. It is a true world event seen by the biggest TV audiences for darts anywhere in the world. It offers a wonderful mix of well-known and experienced players, challenged by fresh faces and emerging talent, together with the finest officials, the premier broadcaster and the No.1 venue in World Darts.”

Hi ,
shame that fewer and fewer darts to see on TV.
Hi all,
We’ve received some complaints here at touchline about erratic camera work on the darts, with shots being missed.
Any comments ?
