The BBC will screen coverage of the 2011 Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials over the Easter weekend (24-25 April) continuing the broadcasters long association with one of the greatest three-day events in the sporting calendar.
Coverage commences live on the red button with the cross country on Sunday, 24th April between 11:45am – 5.15pm. This is followed on Monday, 25th April with coverage of the final day on BBC Two from 1pm as riders from around the world make up a top-class field, many of which have their sights firmly set on London 2012.
Great Britain’s triple Badminton winner Pippa Funnell is among those competing, as is William Fox-Pitt, winner of a record 40 three-day events, who should also be prominent once again as he looks to add to his 2004 success on Tamarillo.
Clare Balding presents the coverage and is joined by commentators Mike Tucker and Ian Stark.

TYPICAL BBC. One of the greatest equestrian events in the world and the BBC only show highlights and the final days coverage. What about the proposed FULL live coverage on the RED BUTTON?
Oh yes snooker and football take priority.
Useless.
SG.
B*****ds arent they, I get that it isnt as popular as footy…but snooker? really? i think most people would rather shoot themselves in the face. There is almost full coverage of xc on red button today though.
120,000 spectators expected at badminton today and many more who thousands who wish they could be there and it still doesn’t warrant decent tv coverage??
The government insisted that full coverage of this event was cancelled. A government source claimed that sales of paint would rise astronomically and millions of people would fail to return to work on Tuesday, having hypnotized themselves watching paint dry in preference to Badminton.
