American Football is making a return to Channel 4 after the broadcaster announced a deal to screen a live game from the NFL every Sunday night throughout the regular season.
The channel will screen the late Sunday match live every week, with coverage beginning at 1am and the matches at 1.20am starting with the Washington Redskins v Dallas Cowboys on September 12.
Alistair Kirkwood, managing director of NFL UK, said: ‘This is very exciting news. Not only does this deal ensure that the NFL’s biggest game of the week and the sport’s most exciting stars are available on free-to-air television in the UK, but it takes the league back to the station that many of our fans grew up watching all those years ago.’
The deal means that NFL fans are well catered for this season with the BBC screening the Super Bowl, two live matches on Sky Sports every Sunday and the Monday match on ESPN added to the C4 deal.
