Glorious Goodwood, one of the highlights of the UK flat racing calendar takes place over 26 – 30 July with Channel 4 broadcasting races from all 5 days from 1.40pm daily. Goodwood makes claim to being the world’s most beautiful racecourse, with breathtaking views of the Sussex Downs from all vantage points. Over its 5 day duration, the meeting will be attended by more than 100,000 racegoers, all eager to witness such high class attractions as the Sussex Stakes, the Nassau Stakes and the Goodwood Cup.
Channel 4 Racing’s coverage of Glorious Goodwood is presented by Mike Cattermole and Emma Spencer, with commentary from John Francome, Simon Holt, John McCririck, Jim McGrath and Tanya Stevenson.
Day 1 – 26 July
The Glorious Festival gets underway with ‘Sporting Greats Day’ as sporting heroes gather to celebrate a day dedicated to British sporting excellence. The key race of the day is the bet365 Lennox Stakes, a seven furlong race for three-year-olds and upwards.

Day 2- 27 July
Goodwood racecourse gears up for the eagerly-anticipated clash between Canford Cliffs and Frankel in the £300,000 Group One QIPCO Sussex Stakes, which takes place over a mile on day two of Glorious Goodwood.
Both horses were successful over a mile at Royal Ascot this year, with four-year-old Canford Cliffs defeating 13-time Group One winner Goldikova by a length in the Queen Anne Stakes while just over an hour later the Henry Cecil-trained Frankel, imperious six-length winner of the QIPCO 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on April 30, extended his unbeaten record to seven races when taking the St James’s Palace Stakes.

Day 3 – 28 July
Thursday, known by most people as Ladies Day has become the day to see and be seen. A day for fashionistas and celebrities, Ladies Day is always a sell-out, with the men making a special effort too wearing linen suits and Panama hats.
Goodwood’s oldest and most popular race, The Aretmis Goodwood Cup, is a Group 2 race run over a distance of 2 miles and is the second leg of the Stayers’ Triple Crown.

Day 4 – 29 July
The totesport Mile is one of the season’s most hotly-contested handicaps, for three-year-olds and upwards, and this year’s race is set to be as strong as ever with a high quality contingent remaining. Always Friday’s feature race, the one mile race was first run 1987.

Day 5 – 30 July
Five horses currently head the betting for the Blue Square Stewards’ Cup with Blue Square, including the James Fanshawe-trained pair of Wokingham Handicap winner Deacon Blues and Mac’s Power, who took third in a competitive Ascot handicap recently.
The Blue Square Stewards’ Cup has a safety limit of 28 but for the first time in 2011, the consolation race for horses which fail to make the final field, the £30,000 Bluesquare.com Stewards’ Sprint Handicap, will also take place on the same day, providing a fantastic double-header of sprint handicap action.
