BBC Sport have announced plans to broadcast extensive coverage of this year’s Royal Ascot – the world’s most famous flat race meeting. Exclusive live action from the five-day festival will commence on Tuesday 14 June at 1.45pm on BBC One and continue throughout the week.
Lead presenter Clare Balding will be joined throughout the week by former five-time British champion jockey, Willie Carson. Also joining Clare will be ex-BBC Royal Correspondent Jennie Bond, who will be part of the team on Tuesday and Wednesday to commentate on the Royal Procession.
Commentary on the runners and riders will be delivered by Jim McGrath, with expert analysis shared between champion jockeys Kevin Darley and Mick Fitzgerald.
Roving reporter Rishi Persad will provide reports from around the course while in the betting ring, John Parrott will be joined by the BBC’s betting expert, Gary Wiltshire, who will be on hand to give hints and tips on the market.
BBC presenter Suzi Perry will be joined by supermodel Olivia Inge on Tuesday and Saturday and new style expert, milliner, Louis Mariette, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, to assess each day’s fashions – with looking good being as important as picking the winner for many Ascot racegoers.
Television coverage will begin at 1.45pm on BBC One each weekday. All 30 races will be shown live on the BBC for the second year running, as following each day’s terrestrial coverage viewers can catch the remaining races of the day live on BBC Red Button. Coverage on Saturday 18 June begins at 2.20pm on BBC Two.

Why do we have to watch so much fashion rubbish on the BBC? If I wanted to watch a fashion programme then I would but I want to watch horses!!
We don’t see the horses in the paddock at Ascot because we’re too busy looking at b****y dresses!!!!!
What has happened to BBC fashion coverage at Ascot 2011? They said how important the queen was etc but then field non experts to inform the viewers about the subject that in some cases they had very little knowledge? The Suzi Perry coverage was spoilt by the absence of James Sherwod and the lightweight replacement and when a certain person removed his top hat it said it all, was it a toilet brush? The racing people were as good as ever, pity poor Suzi could have been given better direction and content! I am only a man and not supposed to interfere?
PLEASE, PLEASE bring back James Sherwood – the fashion reporting at Royal Ascot this year just was not the same. No disrespect to his replacement, but he was just not in the same league. JAMES – YOU WERE SORELY MISSED.
