Clare Balding presents BBC One coverage of the world’s greatest steeplechase, The Grand National, live from Aintree on Saturday, 9th April. Forty horses and jockeys line up at 4.15pm to tackle the fearsome fences at the world-famous racecourse in Liverpool. Last year, the greatest jump jockey in history, Tony McCoy, won the historic race for the first time.
There are five races in total on the card, with starting times at 1.45pm, 2.15pm, 2.50pm and 3.25pm. The tapes go up on the Grand National at 4.15pm. Clare is joined by Rishi Persad, Richard Pitman and Suzi Perry, with expert analysis from Grand National-winning jockeys Richard Dunwoody and Mick Fitzgerald. Betting news is provided by John Parrott and Gary Wiltshire, with race commentary from Jim McGrath, Ian Bartlett and Darren Owen.
In addition to the iconic Grand National, live BBC television coverage from Aintree includes five races each day on Thursday 7th April and Friday 8th April on BBC Two and the BBC HD Channel. Coverage on both days begins at 1.45pm.
