Heineken Cup tournament organisers, ERC have announced the fixtures, dates, kick-off times and host broadcasters for the opening rounds of the 2011/2012 tournament. Sky Sports will continue to broadcast full live UK coverage of the tournament.
Harlequins match against debutants Connacht Rugby will the first to be televised live by Sky Sports at 8pm on Friday 11th November. Harlequins earned their spot at Europe’s top table with a late victory over Stade Francais in the European Challenge Cup and will be the first of five live games to be shown on Sky Sports on the opening weekend.
Saturday the 12th of November sees beaten finalists Northampton face a tough opening fixture as they travel to Irish giants Munster while Ulster play host to Clermont Auvergne in a 3.40pm kick-off. Later, beaten Heineken Cup finalists Northampton will begin their quest to go one better next season with an away trip to Munster on November 12 at 6pm.
London Irish start their campaign with a tricky trip to Edinburgh at 1.30pm, while on Sunday Glasgow Warriors host Bath in a 12.45pm kick-off.
Live broadcasts will be supported by Sky Sports panel of experts from ‘The Rugby Club’, with Stuart Barnes, Dewi Morris and Will Greenwood amongst those joining presenter Simon Lazenby in the studio.
