Broadcaster Tanya Arnold will take over from Harry Gration as the main presenter of the Super League Show when the programme returns for a new series on BBC One on Monday 6 February.
Tanya is well known to rugby league fans as part of the BBC’s Challenge Cup and Four Nations team, as well as being a regular sport presenter on Yorkshire’s regional news programme BBC Look North. She will replace Harry Gration who has presented the Super League series on the BBC since it began in 1999.
Speaking of the move Tanya said “Harry is a hard act to follow but I’m really looking forward to sitting in the hot seat and bringing viewers the very best about the game. Rugby league fans are typically passionate about and committed to their sport – and the Super League Show will continue to reflect that.”
The Super League Show is rugby league’s only weekly highlights programme on terrestrial TV and will be broadcast in a new Monday night slot on BBC One in the north of England, with a UK-wide repeat later on BBC Two. The programme features highlights of the weekend’s key games, all the tries, player profiles and expert analysis from studio guests, including regular pundits Robbie Paul and Brian Noble.
The Super League Show will also have new producers for 2012 in the form of PDI Media, a sports-based production company based in Manchester. The company, who produced the show between 2006-2007 take over from Sheffield-based Televideo. Managing Director of PDI Craig South said “Our aim is for the programme to feature more than just pure highlights, by showcasing the fantastic personalities within the sport and adding an element of fun”.
The programme will continue to be produced at the BBC’s Leeds-based studios and returns to BBC One in the North on Monday 5 February at 11.35pm.
