Rugby League is the latest sport to take on a whole new dimension when Sky Sports broadcast live coverage of the Wigan Warriors v Warrington Wolves match in 3D to 1,000 pubs and venues across the country.
The match, which is being billed as ‘The Big One 2’, is certain to draw the Warriors’ biggest crowd of the season to DW Stadium and RFL Commercial Director Paul Kimberley believes spectators and TV viewers are in for a treat. Speaking to The Warrington Guardian, Kimberley said “The Big One 2 is the perfect game to launch Super League in 3D as the competition’s top two teams battle it out”.
He added : “The game should be a fantastic spectacle of Rugby League, fitting for live 3D coverage. Fans will not want to miss out on this exciting experience so I urge anyone who can’t get a ticket for The Big One 2 to find their nearest 3D venue.”
Commenting on this latest 3D landmark, Sky Sports’ Executive Producer Neville Smith said: “We’ll be presenting Rugby League in a way never seen before using different camera angles and ways of capturing the atmosphere in the stadium to bring the game alive.”
Sky are constantly increasing their portfolio of 3D sport having already introduced 3D coverage for football, cricket and darts. To find your nearest participating 3D venue, check www.sky.com/3dpubs
