The Australian Open 2011, the first Grand Slam event of the year will be broadcast extensively live on Eurosport with featured live matches and highlights on the BBC.
Eurosport and Eurosport 2 will feature more than 220 hours live over the two weeks of the event with both channels broadcasting live from 01:00 to the end of the matches around mid-afternoon. Eurosport will be on-site in Melbourne producing up to the minute reviews of the matches from the Eurosport studio with Barbara Schett interviewing the tennis stars throughout the tournament.
Eurosports coverage is supplemented by a 30-minute round up of the best of the day’s action co-presented by Annabel Croft and former triple Australian Open Champion, Mats Wilander. ‘Game Set and Mats’ features Mats’ analysis on the happenings from the day as well as review of the latest matches. Live Eurosport coverage commences from 00:00 on Monday, 17 January.
The BBC will broadcast selected matches – including every Andy Murray match – live from 00:00 on the Red Button and online, with every evening session shown live each morning from 08:00 on the Red Button and online.
BBC One will also have a special programme on the first Saturday of the tournament, featuring all the highlights from the opening week. There will also be highlights of the women’s final on BBC One from 13:00-14:00 on Saturday, 29 January, and live coverage of the men’s final on BBC Two from 08:15-12:00 on Sunday, 30 January.
