Eurosport will continue it’s longstanding association with the Australian Open after signing a new five year broadcast deal with Tennis Australia, commencing from 2012. The agreement further extends the broadcasters commitment to the tournament which is has screened for twenty years.
Speaking of the deal, Tennis Australia CEO Steve Wood said : “This new agreement ensures that viewers in Europe will continue enjoying live extensive coverage of the Australian Open for many years to come”.
“Eurosport have once again shown their commitment to our tournament and together we will strive to raise the profile of tennis – both as a televised sport and by generating grassroots interest,” he added.
Laurent-Eric Le Lay, Eurosport Group chairman and CEO, said: “Holding exclusive media rights for Europe, Eurosport will showcase this premium event on Eurosport, Eurosport 2 and HD versions. Multi-court service will be further developed on the Eurosport.com network and its mobile services.”
