British Eurosport will broadcast Great Britain’s tie against Luxembourg as Andy Murray returns to Davis Cup action over the weekend of 8-10 July.
The Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Europe/Africa Zone Group II second round tie will be played at Braehead Arena, Glasgow and will see Andy Murray feature in the AEGON GB Davis Cup Team for the first time since Leon Smith was appointed captain in April last year. The British No 1 will line up in the squad alongside his brother, Jamie, James Ward and Colin Fleming.
British Eurosport 2 will broadcast live coverage of the event with live online streaming and video on demand of the three-day fixture available via Eurosport Player. The coverage will be hosted onsite by Eurosport’s regular tennis presenter Rob Curling with former Team GB Davis Cup captain Jeremy Bates providing analysis.
Great Britain’s Davis Cup match against Luxembourg is the second tie to be featured on the channel, following British Eurosport’s coverage of the GB Team’s play-off against Turkey in July 2010. The winner will meet either Belarus or Hungary in the promotion play-offs in September.
Leon Smith, Great Britain’s captain said : “‘We’re obviously very excited to have Andy in the team for the tie. Any team in the world would love to have someone of his calibre and it’s great for fans at the Braehead Arena to get the chance to see one of the world’s best players live.”
Andy Murray added: “It should be a fantastic atmosphere for the tie, and I’m hoping everyone back home gets behind the team. There will be a few decent matches and I’m looking forward to playing.”
David Kerr, Managing Director, Eurosport UK said: “We are delighted to provide coverage of this GB Davis Cup tie in Scotland. With the recent success of British players in the grass-court season and the return of Andy Murray to the Davis Cup fold, we are excited to give UK tennis fans a chance to support the players in this important home tie.”
