WTA Championships 2011 live on British Eurosport

The BNP Paribas WTA Championships, the season-ending event of the WTA will take place in Istanbul between October 25 to October 30, with exclusive coverage on British Eurosport. 

The WTA’s year-end finale will feature the Top 8 singles players and Top 4 doubles teams competing for the coveted title and a share of $5 million in prize money.

Caroline Wozniacki, Maria Sharapova, Petra Kvitova, Victoria Azarenka, Li Na, Vera Zvonareva, Samantha Stosur and Agnieszka Radwanska have all qualified for the WTA finale based on results throughout the 2011 season.

The four-team doubles line-up will feature Kveta Peschke & Katarina Srebotnik, Liezel Huber & Lisa Raymond, Gisela Dulko & Flavia Pennetta and Vania King & Yaroslava Shvedova.

The singles event at the WTA Championships begins as a round robin event, with four players in the Red Pool and four in the White Pool. Over the first four days of competition, each player meets the other three players in their pool, with the Top 2 in each pool of four moving on to the semifinals.

The first-placed player in one group meets the second-placed player in the other group, and vice versa. The winners of each semi-final meet in the championship match.

British Eurosport will broadcast full live coverage of the greatest women’s tennis tour event of the year from the round-robin to the semi-finals and final, live in HD.  Coverage will commence each day at 3pm (1pm on Sat 29 Oct) with highlights of each day’s play in the evening.
